Recipe: Irish Coffee

Warm and strong, Irish Coffee is a classic fall cocktail. Legend has it that it was invented in 1942 in Ireland, precisely at Shannon airport. The manager of the airport cafe, Joe Sheridan, proposed it to shivering passengers waiting for an overnight flight. Customers were won over by the cocktail and asked if it was Brazilian coffee. It seems that the answer was: No, it's an Irish Coffee”. Among the cocktails based on Irish whiskey, the Irish Coffee is undoubtedly the best known. Partly thanks to the fact that he became particularly popular in the Irish community in America, a country that then took him all over the world. But let's get to the recipe. Irish Coffee is made with brown sugar, whisky, hot coffee and a topping of fresh cream. It should absolutely not be mixed and is excellent to be enjoyed on cold evenings. Ingredients:
  • 2 teaspoons of brown sugar
  • 4 cl. Irish Whisky
  • 1 cup of espresso made with Mokito capsules
  • whipped cream to taste
Preparation: In a large glass, dilute 2 teaspoons of cane sugar with 4 cl of Irish whiskey and a cup of hot coffee. Garnish the drink with fresh cream. To ensure that this does not mix with the cocktail but remains on the surface, pour it with the help of a spoon. Holding the spoon down, very close to the glass, run the cream along the back of the spoon. In this way the cream will flow slowly and float on the coffee. The Irish COfee should be served immediately, nice hot and not stirred.
